Berberis are an underused genera here but are widely used in Europe as specimen plants and for hedging. ‘Silver Beauty’ has soft green leaves with blotches of cream during spring and summer then in mid autumn they turn a burnt red. It is an easy to grow plant that is tolerant of moderate to heavy frosts, will grow in shade to full sun. A light prune and feed with Osmocote Slow Release every summer will keep it healthy and vigorous. It grows to between 75cmand 100cm tall and 60 cm wide.
‘Silver Beauty’ looks good in patio tubs, as a specimen plant in a shrubbery or as a border plant to a colourful perennial garden. It also makes a good hedge for the driveway.
